Early Stage Researchers - BioTrib
Advanced Research Training for the Biotribology of Natural and Artificial Joints in the 21st Century. BioTrib is a EU funded European Training Network (ETN) comprising 5 Beneficiaries from the UK, Sweden and Switzerland together with 11 partners from across the globe including organisations in Australia and China as well as Europe. The research focus for BioTrib is biotribology that is the friction, lubrication and wear in natural and artificial joints. Engineers believe problems have arisen with some implants because of weaknesses in the way they were tested prior to being approved for use. Current testing fails to evaluate real-world wear and tear.

Wettability in biotribology applications - BioTrib
Wettability enhancement can improve the lubrication conditions by forming the tribofilm on the surface, reducing wear rate and friction coefficient[1];one of the way is by grafting hydrophilic acrylic acid on UHMWPE. The presence of carboxylic groups in the acrylic acid enhances the interaction with the bioactive molecules such as proteins, peptides, etc. With the grafting ... Read more
