In 2016, kenko was founded by Andreas Bachmann and Fritz Grospietsch. The two product designers, who previously made a name for themselves internationally by trading in design classics through their gallery named Galerie Bachmann in Berlin, take a sustainable approach to design and aim to complement the sports equipment market with a high-quality, sustainable alternative. The focus is on extremely high quality standards, local production and the exclusive use of natural materials. By fusing sports, design, and physics, our products appear like sculptural artifacts in space. The use of machinery is kept to a minimum and products are made as much as possible by hand by artisans, taking time to complete without compromise. Kenko's design concepts and production are contemporary evolutions of traditional Japanese and German craftsmanship, highlighting the long-lasting beauty and tactile qualities of natural and high-quality materials. An elaborate 2-layer wood serves as the handle, which is milled in a triangle and has gentle curves, so that extremely ergonomic handling is guaranteed. The design concepts and manufacturing are a contemporary evolution of traditional Japanese & German craftsmanship, highlighting the long-lasting beauty and solid wood’s tactile qualities.
