Needless to say, the time savings are substantial: the majority of the testing and commissioning process can be completed in the load-out port and the placement of the turbine in the field can be completed in less than 12 hours. The semi-submersible design provides enhanced sea-keeping and stability characteristics and, crucially, there is no need to make contact with, and potentially damage, the seabed as is the case with the current jack-up fleet of wind turbine installation vessels. The Moonraker vessels are equally capable in the heavy lift and decommissioning market. Our long established OGRE engineering division is well placed to provide operations and maintenance services after the turbines have been installed in the field, and is a natural extension to the existing portfolio.
