Chandler founded Petroleum Equipment Company Incorporated (PEI) on behalf of John Dotson of Mid-State Petroleum Equipment Company of Hallsville, Mo. The company was successful from the very beginning and operated out of the Chandler’s home basement with two phones and a single card table until the first office location became move-in ready.
