Waste Transformation 4 Energy Association

Our mission is to raise the level of awareness about Thermal Waste-to-Energy technologies in African countries, create an enabling environment for Waste-to-Energy investments, and encourage uptake of these technologies as solutions to the challenges of our times. WT4E believes in a well-functioning Circular Economy where landfilling is limited to a minimum, quality recycling is steadily increasing and where WtE technologies have a key role to play in moving towards a resource-efficient and low-carbon African economy. Our prime objectives are to educate, promote and leverage the knowhow we offer to replicate the European multi-billion dollar WtE industry for the African continent. We believe in a well-functioning circular economy where quality recycling is steadily increasing, landfilling is limited to a minimum, and where Waste-to-Energy has a pivotal role to play in moving towards a resource-efficient and low-carbon circular economy. It functions as a bridge between leading edge corporates, startups, academia, research institutes, development organizations, governmental, and non-governmental institutions, for an exchange of perspectives, expertise, and initiatives. The Waste Transformation 4 Energy (WT4E) Association is the umbrella association for Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Project Developers, Technologies Suppliers, Financiers and Operators in Africa. Functioning as a bridge between the private and public sectors, its mission is to raise the level of awareness about Thermal WtE technologies in African countries, create an enabling environment for WtE investments, and encourage the uptake of these technologies as solutions to the challenges of our times. Ash is the source of ferrous and non-ferrous metals which can only be recycled after incineration.

The purpose of ESWET is to raise awareness of the positive implications of Waste-to-Energy in terms of sustainable waste management, clean and reliable energy, and protection of the environment. Technology from the ESWET members is the heart of most of the Waste-to-Energy plants in Europe and worldwide, allowing the recovering of energy and materials from non-recyclable waste which would otherwise be landfilled! ESWET promotes Waste-to-Energy with a wide range of activities across different tools and channels. ESWET is glad to welcome Bonnenberg & Drescher GmbH (B&D) as a new member. The diversion of waste from landfills prevents the production of methane emissions, saves valuable land, and allows the recovery of energy and materials. To keep up with the latest technologies in decarbonisation, ESWET is running two Working Groups on CCUS and Waste-to-Hydrogen. Our members are the leading companies in Europe for the manufacturing of Waste-to-Energy plants and related technologies. At WES, we are dedicated to solve the waste problem with our unique advanced HTCW-technology. The stamina of the WES still did not stop to further improve the technology, offering a solution to more than just the waste issue. Incinerators and other technologies became better, and the pressure to become even more innovative increased. With the climate change becoming more obvious, we additionally focused on energy production. Synergies with solar farms, energy storage systems, CO2-removal technologies, hydrogen production, fertilizer recovery and more. Facing this brutal fact, we are taking the next steps to make a difference: Improved hydrogen production, oxyfuel turbines, carbon capture, from CO2-storage to CO2-usage, and microgrid compatibility. Because of the vicious circle to find cheap energy, ever increasing CO2 production and the vast plastic pollution, time is running short to prevent us going over the climate tipping point. WES is a research and engineering team, with years of experience.
