WA3RM brings waste to life by connecting industries that want to put their waste streams to better use, with entrepreneurs that benefit from accessible energy and raw materials in different forms. The WA3RM business concept is to capture waste streams from major industries and use these to create regenerative, often food-producing businesses where the circular element is dominant. WA3RM’s projects are based on proven technology and established solutions for utilizing waste heat on a large scale. The WA3RM team was first formed at the European Spallation Source (ESS) Energy Division, tasked with delivering a sustainable research facility, that was energy efficient, only used renewable energy and recycled waste heat. The “3R” in WA3RM comes from the energy concept “Responsible, Renewable, Recyclable” of the ESS. WA3RM’s mission is to bring that revolution to industry. WA3RM was founded shortly after, as a spin-off from ESS continuing to offer the industry an incredible tool to achieve significant positive sustainability impact across the value chain. WA3RM AB owns the WA3RM Fund Management AB, and the Regenergy special purpose vehicles.

DK Heat Recovery is a private UK Company, partly owned by DK Kaelteanlagen GmbH. We offer specification, design and system supply services for heat recovery systems based on refrigeration waste heat. The systems are manufactured in Germany for whom we are the sole agent for the English speaking world. DK Kaelteanlagen have been developing and manufacturing heat recovery and other associated systems for well over 40 years and have 10’s of thousands of units installed largely in Europe and the UK but we have recently exported the first units for CO2 refrigeration systems to Australia. Support offered from Germany includes design and manufacture along with a training centre (with a beer fridge) for helping our clients and installers learn more about how it all works and why heat recovery is so key to the sustainability profile of any Company that uses refrigeration or AC and hot water. Founded on over 45 years of experience, we are the leading technology and manufacturing specialist to provide heat recovery solutions to all F Gas refrigeration solutions and C02 refrigerant applications. DK were the first manufacturer to develop tank-internal heat exchangers in 2008 for C02 application – and remain the leading light in this sector.

At the heart of a Heatcatcher System generating hot water, a High Temperature Heat Pump (HTHP) recovering low temperature heat rejected from cooling systems, exhaust ducts or effluent water into high temperature hot water above 70°C. With the market for High Temperature Heat Pumps (HTHP) developing rapidly, with many manufacturers across Europe offering both standard range and larger bespoke equipment, Heatcatcher is independent and best placed to select and integrate the best available technology to match your waste heat source. At the heart of a Heatcatcher System for generating electricity is an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) capable of converting waste heat temperatures as low as 80°C into carbon free electricity. With over 30 different manufacturers producing ORC generators across Europe and North America all with differing technology ranges and costs per kW of power generation, Heatcatcher is independent and best placed to select and integrate the best available technology to match your waste heat source. Adil is a chartered mechanical engineer with electrical supply experience in the design and project management of low carbon energy generating technologies for energy intensive industries. Graham is an Electrical/Energy Management/BMS Controls Engineer with over 25 years’ experience delivering energy conservation projects for Commercial and Industrial applications.

We are based in the UK at the manufacturing site of our parent company in Hull. We are unique in that our design, engineering, project management and, crucially, manufacturing is all carried out in-house.
