Artificial senses are abilities given to robots and other artificial intelligence (AI) systems to sense their environment and interact with it. For example, visual sensors allow robots to see and interpret their surroundings, while audio sensors enable them to hear and respond to spoken commands. Touch-based sensors allow robots to detect physical objects, while olfactory and gustatory sensors allow robots to recognize smells and tastes. Artificial senses can also include other types of sensors, such as infrared and seismic, which allow robots to detect temperature and vibration.
