A bionic eye is a type of implantable device that acts as a prosthetic for people with vision loss. It consists of a camera mounted on a pair of glasses that sends images to a special computer processor that is implanted in the eye socket. The processor converts the images into electrical signals that are sent to electrodes implanted on the surface of the retina. The electrodes stimulate the retina, causing the patient to experience vision.
