„Crispr“

CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) is a family of DNA sequences found in the genomes of prokaryotic organisms such as bacteria and archaea. CRISPR sequences are used by these organisms to store information about viruses and other foreign elements encountered in their environment. This information is used to mount an effective defense against foreign genetic elements, by targeting and destroying them. CRISPR technology has been adapted for genetic engineering in laboratory settings, allowing researchers to modify or "edit" the genetic material of living cells.
