Retech | Electron Beam (EB) Melting Furnaces

Electron Beam melting provides the user with a proven refining technology for a wide range of specialty metals and alloys. A Retech Electron Beam (EB) furnace utilizes the ease of use and low maintenance of Von Ardenne guns and cold hearth to melt reactive and refractory metals in a sealed vacuum chamber. A Cold Hearth is a water-cooled, copper vessel -- devoid of contaminating elements like oxygen -- yielding clean, inclusion-free metal by removing high- and low-density inclusions during cold hearth refining. Electron Beam furnaces can be designed in a wide range of sizes, from laboratory-scale to many tons. Our Electron Beam furnaces can be configured with one or multiple guns, feed systems and withdrawal chambers to meet the needs of our customers. We actively work with those customers to develop the necessary equipment solutions, including upstream and downstream components, as well as alloy and application development. Von Ardenne, the world leader in Electron Beam technology, offers Retech the ideal partner to produce the finest, most durable production instruments to exceed the requirements of our most sophisticated customers.

„Electron Beam Melting“

Electron Beam Melting (EBM) is a metal 3D printing process that uses an electron beam as its source of energy to melt metal powders layer by layer to form complex geometries. It is a powder-bed fusion process, where the electron beam is directed to the metal powder bed by a computer-controlled path. The electron beam melts the metal powder, which then solidifies and forms a layer. This process is repeated until the entire part is built up, layer by layer. EBM is used for producing complex metal parts for aerospace, medical, and other industries.
