Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is a 3D printing process which involves extruding or depositing successive layers of thermoplastic material, such as PLA or ABS, and building up an object from the bottom up. A filament of the material is fed from a spool through an extruder, which is heated to melt the material, and then extruded through a nozzle onto the build platform. The nozzle then moves in the X and Y directions to deposit the material in layers, until the desired object is completed. FFF is a popular choice for rapid prototyping and short-run production, due to its affordability and ease of use.
