High-temperature superconductivity is a phenomenon in which certain materials exhibit superconductivity at temperatures much higher than those of conventional superconductors. This phenomenon was first discovered in 1986 and has been studied extensively since then. High-temperature superconductors are materials that can conduct electricity without resistance when cooled below a certain temperature. This temperature, called the critical temperature, is usually much higher than that of conventional superconductors, which typically have critical temperatures below -269°C. High-temperature superconductors have the potential to revolutionize many areas of technology, from energy storage and transmission to electronics and computing.
