IO-Link is an industrial communication protocol designed to provide basic connection and control of low-cost, intelligent automation devices. It is a fieldbus-independent, point-to-point connection between a master device and up to four IO-Link devices. IO-Link is designed to reduce wiring costs, provide local parameterization, and reduce engineering time. IO-Link is also commonly used in Industry 4.0 applications, allowing for a more flexible, efficient and integrated production process.
