Metamaterials are materials engineered to have properties not found in nature. They are designed structures made of components such as metals, plastics, ceramics, and other materials that interact with light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation. Metamaterials can be made to have unusual properties, such as a negative refractive index, allowing them to bend light in ways not seen in nature. They can also be used to manipulate sound waves and radio waves, as well as thermal radiation. Metamaterials are used in a wide range of applications, including medical imaging, stealth technology, and wireless communication.
