Nitrogen modeling is a type of mathematical modeling used to analyze nitrogen dynamics in an environment, such as in a river or lake. It is used to predict the effects of nitrogen pollution on aquatic ecosystems, such as how much nitrogen is taken up by plants and algae or how much nitrogen is released into the atmosphere. Nitrogen modeling is also used to assess the impacts of nutrient loading on water quality and to help inform the development of water management plans.
