A Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is a type of microscope that uses a focused beam of electrons to produce an image of a sample. The electrons interact with atoms in the sample, allowing for the observation of features that are too small to be seen with a light microscope. SEMs can provide magnifications up to 100,000 times, allowing for the observation of features as small as 0.1 nanometers. SEMs are used in many fields, including biology, materials science, and nanotechnology.
