Surface modification is a process of altering the physical, chemical, and/or biological properties of a surface in order to improve its performance. This can be done by changing the surface composition, adding coatings, or altering the surface topography. Surface modification can be applied to a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, and ceramics, in order to improve their properties, such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and biocompatibility.
