Biopsy from Cat with Lymphoma for Cancer Diagnosis

Description

A study of 164 URT biopsies identified lymphoma in 39 cats (24%). The majority were domestic shorthair cats (82%), male (56%), with an average age of 10.3 years. Lymphomas were primarily nasal (67%), nasopharyngeal (15%), or both (18%). Most tumors had a diffuse growth pattern, and epitheliotropism was observed in 26% of cases. B-cell origin was predominant (87%), and FeLV antigens were found in 54% of lymphomas. The survival time varied significantly, with an average of 53 days. Younger or older age and epitheliotropism in B-cell lymphomas were linked to prolonged survival. Lymphoplasmacytic inflammation and FeLV infection may increase the risk of URT lymphoma. Animal PBMCs for Antibody Discovery

Antibody Production

PBMCs are used in antibody discovery due to their role in the immune response. Antibody-secreting cells (ASCs), a type of PBMC, are an excellent source of high-affinity antibodies with therapeutic potential. Millions of PBMCs can be isolated and screened to identify antigen-specific ASCs that secrete antibodies with desirable properties. One method involves microfluidic encapsulation of single ASCs into an antibody capture hydrogel, followed by antigen bait sorting using flow cytometry, enabling the rapid discovery of monoclonal antibodies. These antibodies can then be further characterized for their binding affinity and neutralizing capacity, making PBMCs a valuable resource for developing antibody-based drugs and studying immune responses. Beagle PBMCs for Antibody Discovery

antibody production

Beagle PBMCs have been used to generate anti-canine CD20 antibodies, which can target B cells and B cell lymphoma cells. These antibodies are tested for their binding affinity and ability to induce cell death, showing promise as therapeutic antibodies for treating canine B cell lymphoma. Pig/Minipig PBMCs for Antibody Discovery

Antibody Production

Pig PBMCs have been used in antibody discovery to isolate antigen-specific B cells for monoclonal antibody (mAb) cloning. For example, researchers have established platforms to sort antigen-specific single B cells from immunized pigs, allowing for the direct cloning and expression of antigen-specific mAbs. Sequential vaccination of pigs with different serotypes of the foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) enabled the isolation of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) by dissecting B-cell receptor (BCR) gene repertoires from PBMCs.
