BCarbon

BCarbon’s story begins in 2019 at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, where a working group was formed to expand soil carbon sequestration efforts across the state of Texas. Since its origins, BCarbon has maintained close ties with the Baker Institute and become a center of expertise on carbon markets and ecological restoration in Texas and the Gulf region. BCarbon leads a stakeholder group of over 600 members, who meet each month to discuss developments in the carbon market, vote on new protocols, and provide feedback on BCarbon’s ongoing projects. BCarbon’s measurement-focused protocols provide a pathway to net-zero goals, strengthen rural economies, and regenerate rangelands, forests, and coastal marshes. BCarbon provides pragmatic, high-integrity climate solutions through its protocols and research. This finding resulted in the formation of BCarbon as an independent non-profit in 2020.
