The founders of Data2Bio have been employing next generation sequencing (NGS) since the early days of Roche 454 sequencing. Founded in 2010 Data2Bio was initially housed in a single room in the Iowa State University Research Incubator. Subsequently, Data2Bio developed proprietary genotyping and analytical methods adapted for Illumina and Life Technologies platforms, allowing us to grow into a contract research organization (CRO) that provides genomics, genotyping, and genomic selection services to clients focused on more than 30 species and located on six continents. Data2Bio's proprietary tGBS® genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) method eliminates the inefficient and temperamental adaptor molecules employed by conventional GBS and has enabled the integration of GBS directly into breeding programs that employ genomic selection, by providing accurate genotyping calls of heterozygous individuals, with turn-around times fast enough to inform crossing decisions. We used Data2Bio to genotype and create a linkage map in Cucurbita moschata, a pumpkin species with no genomic resources. Data2Bio allowed us to have genetic data on breeding populations to make selections in real time. Data2Bio now offers tGBS®genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) at a lower cost for our clients who do not require assistance with experimental design or data analysis. Founded in 2010, Data2Bio offers a range of services, including SNP discovery, RNA-seq, high-throughput genotyping, gene mapping and breeding support.
