Graphensic

Together the researchers of Graphensic have over 500 publications, four patent families and more 50 years of experience related to epitaxial graphene specifically. Graphensic is a member of the Swedish initiative for graphene development (SIO Grafen). The company was founded in November 2011 and became the first European supplier of epitaxial graphene on silicon carbide. An undesirable consequence of this phenomenon is the enhanced Si sublimation at the step edges which facilitates local bilayer graphene formation. The co-founders, Professor Rositsa Yakimova and collegues, have the mission to progress the company to become a leading supplier of wafer scale graphene not only in Europe but worldwide. The strong interaction between the company and the research group is a motor of the new product development. Graphene is a crystal plane built up of carbon (C) atoms with sp2 bonding in a honeycomb lattice in which carbon participates with three in-plane bonds while the forth one is unsaturated bond in the perpendicular direction.
