Schekman is a Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley, and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The discoveries from the Schekman lab has enabled the production of one third of the world’s supply of recombinant human insulin and one hundred percent of the world’s supply of recombinant hepatitis B vaccines. Williams is the Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of Walking Fish Therapeutics, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on developing B cell therapies. Williams founded and served as a director of Five Prime Therapeutics, Inc., a public biotechnology company, from January 2002 to January 2020, and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer from April 2011 to December 2017. Williams is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Michael Kavanaugh is the former Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Research and Non-Clinical Development of CytomX Therapeutics.
