Their research allows Switzerland to take a leading position within the global field of digital fabrication. The NCCR Digital Fabrication is the first NCCR focused on architecture and construction funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Having the on-site machine enables customisable timber cross-sections and ensures a closed production cycle from design to fabrication. Around 250 people took part and focused on open source approaches as the key to digital sustainability. The hackathon was co-organised by NCCR DFAB alumni Konrad Graser and supported by the NCCR DFAB.
