LEWCO Inc's Logo

1917

The welding supply & gas business became known as the O.E. Meyer Company, which still operates today in Sandusky, OH. Around the time when the Grumney brothers took over, Lake Erie Welding operated out of a small 1,600 sq. One of the most interesting products of this era was a horse treadmill for exercising quarter horses. Over a period of 10 years or so Lake Erie Welding manufactured over 2,500 of these machines. The northern Ohio automotive industry also provided significant business to Lake Erie Welding and many of those orders were for various types of conveyors. Shortly thereafter, the company also found a niche in the chemical industry; manufacturing the first 55-gallon drum “Hot Box.” This chemical industry niche and demand for conveyors from the automotive industry are the roots of LEWCO’s two product lines today – Material Handling Conveyor & Industrial Ovens. In 1985 Lake Erie Welding moved into a new 64,000 square foot manufacturing facility to accommodate growing customer demand.

Things to know about Conveyor Oven

What is Conveyor Oven?

A conveyor oven is an industrial or commercial baking device which uses a conveyor belt to move products through a heated chamber for cooking, baking, or drying. This equipment is engineered for continuous cooking processes, making it a pivotal asset in environments where high volume production and uniformity in heat application are critical, such as in the food service industry for baking pizzas, toasting sandwiches, or even in the manufacturing sector for drying paint or curing adhesives. Its design allows for consistent heat distribution and precise temperature control, ensuring that each item passing through the oven receives the same amount of heat exposure, thus guaranteeing uniform quality and cooking results. The efficiency of a conveyor oven lies in its capability to streamline operations, reduce labor costs, and increase production rates by automating the cooking process. By eliminating the need for manual intervention to monitor cooking times, it significantly minimizes the risk of human error, thereby enhancing product consistency. This automation not only optimizes productivity but also allows businesses to allocate human resources to tasks that require more critical attention. Consequently, conveyor ovens have become indispensable in sectors that prioritize efficiency, consistency, and quality in their cooking or curing processes, underscoring their transformative impact on industrial and commercial food preparation methodologies.

Advantages of Conveyor Oven

1. Efficiency in Cooking
Conveyor ovens boast an unparalleled efficiency by consistently cooking food at a steady rate. Unlike traditional ovens, where each item requires individual attention, these ovens allow for a continuous cooking process, significantly reducing the time and labor involved in preparing large quantities of food.

2. Uniformity of Cooking
One of the standout advantages of conveyor ovens is their ability to cook food more uniformly. The consistent heat distribution and controlled conveyor speed ensure that each item is cooked identically, eliminating the variability often seen with conventional ovens. This feature is particularly beneficial in professional kitchens where consistency is crucial.

3. Versatility
Conveyor ovens are not just limited to pizzas; they can cook a wide range of dishes, from baked goods to meats. This flexibility makes them an invaluable asset in various culinary settings, enabling chefs to use a single appliance for multiple cooking tasks, thus optimizing kitchen space and efficiency.

4. Energy Efficiency
Lastly, conveyor ovens are designed to be more energy-efficient compared to traditional ovens. They are often built with advanced insulation materials and technologies that minimize heat loss, ensuring that more of the energy consumed is directly used for cooking. This not only reduces operational costs but also supports sustainability efforts.

How to select right Conveyor Oven supplier?

While evaluating the different suppliers make sure to check the following criteria:

1. Production Capacity
Evaluate the supplier's capability to meet your volume requirements within the desired timelines. This ensures a steady supply chain without delays.

2. Technology and Innovation
Assess the technological advancements employed in the conveyor oven. A supplier investing in innovation is likely to offer more efficient, durable, and cost-effective solutions.

3. Customization Options
Determine if the supplier can customize the conveyor oven to suit specific operational needs. Customization can significantly enhance productivity and efficiency.

4. Quality Assurance and Certifications
Check for quality certifications (like ISO) that affirm the supplier's commitment to maintaining high standards in manufacturing and product quality.

5. After-Sales Support
Inquire about the supplier's after-sales service, including warranty, maintenance, and repair services. Reliable support extends the lifespan of the equipment and ensures operational continuity.

6. Cost Efficiency
Consider the overall cost, including purchase price, operating expenses, and maintenance costs. An optimal supplier offers a balance between quality and affordability.

What are common B2B Use-Cases for Conveyor Oven?

Conveyor ovens play a pivotal role in the food industry, specifically in fast-food chains and pizza parlors. These ovens ensure consistent cooking at high volumes, which is crucial for businesses that prioritize speed and uniformity in food preparation. The continuous cooking platform reduces manual handling, enhancing efficiency and productivity in fast-paced kitchen environments. In the electronics manufacturing sector, conveyor ovens are instrumental for the curing and drying processes of electronic components. These precision-controlled ovens provide a consistent temperature environment necessary for the assembly of circuit boards and other electronic devices. The uniform heat application ensures high-quality production outcomes, vital for maintaining the integrity and functionality of electronic products. The automotive industry benefits significantly from the use of conveyor ovens in the curing of coatings and adhesives. This application is critical for ensuring durable and long-lasting finishes on automotive parts. The controlled heating process aids in achieving uniform cure rates, which is essential for parts that require strong adhesion and resistance to wear and tear. Lastly, in the aerospace sector, conveyor ovens are utilized for composite curing and bonding applications. These ovens facilitate the production of lightweight and strong composite materials, which are fundamental in the manufacturing of aerospace components. The ability to maintain precise temperature control is crucial for the successful curing of these advanced materials, ensuring they meet the stringent standards required in aerospace engineering.

Current Technology Readiness Level (TLR) of Conveyor Oven

Conveyor ovens, a pivotal component in various industrial and culinary processes, have attained a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 9. This classification signifies that these systems have been fully proven through successful operational deployment in their intended environment. The advancement to such a high TRL is primarily due to extensive research, development, and refinement over the years, leading to innovations in heat distribution, efficiency, and control mechanisms. Key to this achievement is the integration of sophisticated temperature control systems, enabling precise heat management tailored to specific materials or food items, thereby ensuring consistent quality and throughput. Additionally, advancements in conveyor technology, such as adjustable speeds and customizable belt materials, have broadened the utility of conveyor ovens across a diverse range of industries, from food production to electronics manufacturing. The robustness of these ovens is further underscored by their adaptability in different operational settings, whether it's in high-volume restaurants or in the mass production of electronic components. This level of maturity and proven reliability underscores why conveyor ovens occupy a TRL of 9, marking them as a fully developed technology that continues to play a crucial role in modern manufacturing and culinary arts.

What is the Technology Forecast of Conveyor Oven?
